When life gets you, it gets you
There had been a lot of analogies used for illustrating life: a box of chocolate, a wheel, a page of a book, a story…etc. And yet, life remains complicated for the most part. Sure, sometimes it’s simple but then again sometimes it’s not…why can’t it just be simple? or better yet, simple and fun?
It combines misery and happiness together, allowing the existence of both hope and disappointment, inspiration and discouragement, friends and foes, answer and confusion, like and dislike…you name it!
And when it gets you, it gets you by the neck.
***
Life, is it enough to name you?
Would it be helpful to describe you?
Shall a loathe you? Shall I?
But granted the happiness…
the success…
Ah, I could not find myself hating you.
Shall I love you with all of me? Shall I?
But granted the disappointment…
the discouragement…
Ah, I cannot find myself embracing you.
How is it you can mix antagonistic pairs together?
Misery and happiness,
Love and pain,
And look at me! I cannot even tear myself from the fact that I,
tho’ continually tried by your challenges,
still want you.
And yet, at the same moment…at this moment
repel you.
Life, shall I just humbly bow and let your teaching sway me?
Or shall I stand firm, hold my ground, and learn?
Shall I bow out gracefully?
Or shall I wave in triumphant recession?
Life, is it really friendship we have?
Or is it mere acquaintance…
leaving me always wondering?
Oh life, shall I love thee?
But alas! To love thee requires sacrifices.
